Duke Returns To Racing.

Duke swished his tail impatiently as the huge truck filled with other Thoroughbred racers. They all neighed and nickered in excitement, glad to finally return. He pricked his ears and glanced out the nearest small window as he saw the course, he bubbled with excitement inside. As soon as the door came down he half reared in happiness, almost hitting the roof. The humans let him out first because he seemed to want to go out the most. Duke tugged at the human leading him down the ramp wanting him to go faster. Once he reached the bottom he forced the man to run in his canter to the stalls. He burst into the large stalls then whinnied a greeting to all the other horses, he had managed to lose the man on the way of the run. He glanced back and he was running after him now.

Belle was standing quietly in her stall, she heard the greeting of another horse, she walked forward and looked over her stall door. She saw this gorgeous Stallion running down the hall way thing between all the stalls, she whinnied a greeting back to him. She tossed her head, her beautiful silky, shinny mane falling over her eyes and on both sides of her stunning shimmering black neck.

Duke pricked his ears, hearing the greeting in return. He went to stop but carried on, remembering the human which was trying to regain his control on the horse, he would return, he wanted some freedom first. He pushed on, neighing out to the mare before speeding past her, leaving the loud noise of his thundering shoes hitting the concrete.

Belle pranced around in her stall she looked at Duke again then looked around at the handles. She wondered when her owner was going to come and take her out for a ride around the track. Hey owner Josh walked out from nowhere, he walked up to her, "Hey Belle ready to race?" he asked his gorgeous looking black filly. He patted her neck then clipped a lead on and lead her out and down the corridor. Belle pranced beautifully along side him, she nickered to Duke again who was still running around.

Duke kicked out playfully with a quiet grunt of pleasure. He skidded to a stop at a tall, wooden fence...Not even the most magnificent of horses could clear the obstacle, which left him no choice but be recaptured by the man. He could feel the freedom slipping out of his clutches as the man grabbed the lead rope which dangled behind him, soon after quickly leading the stallion to his stall which he now stood. He snorted loudly and leaned on the stall door, watching the man disappear from around the corner.

Belle watched Duke's every movement, Josh tugged on her lead a bit harder, she followed him out the door and onto the race track. Someone tacked her up then bounced up on her, she stood still, then started prancing around, some guy took her lead rope off Josh and walked her into the starting gates, she new what was coming she got ready, the gates opened she burst forward with power and speed she hoofed around the track as fast as she could go, she felt as if she was flying. When she had run the distance the jockey slowed her down. "Wow your a fast little filly" he said patting her neck.

Duke felt the door slightly give way, followed by a loud creak. He moved away as his owner came in site, a short fellow walking next to him. He pushed out his velvet muzzle and felt a soft hand meet it. "Duke, this is your jockey."

Josh took hold of Belle's bridle as the jockey rode her over to him. "Wow that was a fast time. I think she may have a chance at winning some races" said Josh as he stroked her sweaty neck. He breathed hard and fast she tryed to take in as much air in her lungs as she could, she slowed down after a while and the breathing got quieter. Josh lead her around to cool her down, she cooled down then he went and brushed her, then popped her back in her stall where she could get a drink and rest.

Duke glanced at the jockey, he seemed professional. He could tell by his expression. He pushed out his muzzle to the man and softly snorted.

Belle watched Duke as people were hanging around his stall, she lent on her stall door to get a better looked at things, she nickered to the people, she tossed her head as she lent harder on her door.

Duke snorted as he was lead out from his stall after quickly being tacked, he guessed it was time to train. He felt excitement bubble in his gut as he was mounted, another horse galloped with him as they bolted off, dirt flicking behind them.

Belle nickered after him, she paced around in her stall waiting for him to return, she nudged her stall door, it moved, she nudged it harder, it rattled, she pawed at it, it started coming off its hinges, she neighed happily and booted it with her hind legs, it opened. It was half on and half off its hinges she trotted down the corridor. She soon came to the high fence which Duke hadn't a tempted to jump she slowed down and turned around and cantered down the other way.

Duke galloped on next to the only stallion he ran with, he seemed to be enjoying the training too. He felt himself being pulled back by his owner and he snorted impatiently, the stallion bolting past him.

Belle, somehow managed to find her way out of the stables, she cantered to the track where Duke was racing. Josh walked into the stables to go see how Belle was going, when he got to her stall she wasn't there. "Dang you horse" he said as her sprinted of to find her.

Duke was forced to a slow gallop for most the track, the horse almost disappearing around the corner. He sighed and tossed his mane, he hadn't even broken into a sweat yet, which made him slightly agitated. He saw the finish around the corner, suddenly felt his jockey pushing him on with full force. He neighed in excitement then burst into a amazing amount of speed, catching up to the horse within seconds.

Josh found Belle prancing around the fence line watching Duke. "You crazy pretty girl. Cm'on we cant let you distract him." he said as he clipped a rope onto her halter and lead her off.

Duke pricked his ears, just hearing the words from underneath the stallion's thundering hooves. He grunted as he pushed past the black, its ears pinning back as he did. He pulled in front, moving as the black did. He tossed his head as they flew past the finish, his jockey starting to slowly cool him down. "Nice one." He praised ad he rubbed his damp neck, able to tell where each large muscle was placed in his neck.

She flicked her tail in boredom as her own lead her off. She wanted to do more racing work. Josh lead he into her stall, someone else had come and fixed her door, she looked around at the other horses and nickered. "Nooo Wait!! I'll put you out in the field" he said as he turned her around and trotted her toward the field. There was beautiful green grass in it. She snorted happily as Josh unclipped her lead rope from her halter and lead her go in the paddock. She cantered around happily, she buck then reared then lay down in the soft green lush grass.

Duke snorted in excitement, exhilarated by the quick race, it had passed so fast. He tossed up his head, the large bit clanging against the back of his teeth. He squealed as he was controlled once again.

Belle looked up and saw Duke at the track. She watched him with big brown stead eyes.

Duke pinned back his ears as he felt the whip slash against his side in punishment. He dropped his head to his chest and threw out his hind legs, his heavy hooves thrashing through the air. He landed as he felt the weight in his saddle grow light. He grunted and galloped forward, springing over the aching jockey whom lay painfully on the ground.

Belle got up and cantered to the fence. She neighed to him happily. She cantered around her paddock. The fences are that high she thought to herself. She positioned herself in the right place and canter at the fence. She took off a bit to close but she was high enough to make it. She clear it beautifully, she bucked once she had landed then galloped over to the race track. She cleared the race track rail and took off galloping after Duke.

Duke bucked continuously, angered by the jockey. He has never had the whip used on him that harshly, especially just after a race when he was excited and agitated. He reared then continued on in his gallop, speeding around the corner off the track, moist dirt flicking out from behind him. He grunted with every fast yet large stride, extremely tired. He pricked his ears as his acute hearing managed to pick up a neigh. He didn't turn around, he was too focused on getting away and enjoying his freedom. He watched a small crowd of experienced Thoroughbred owners run to the rail to watch the magnificent horse, leaning against it eagerly. Duke snorted then kicked out again, his ears pinning flat against his skull as he landed. Duke had almost finished the course now, he saw his jockey in view then turned around, bolting off as he saw his jockey steadily stand and furiously lash his whip at the air threateningly.
