The Great Alaskan Race. Empty The Great Alaskan Race.

Snow fell down heavily in Alaska, people hurried around, trying to get ready for the greatest race of all times. It was the biggest one Alaska had, had in years. So many people and there dogs came from miles just to try and win this race, the prize was the best part(Lol that only just popped into my head, if ya got any suggestions for prizes at the end then please let me know.) Suranee wagged her tail as she sat on the cold snowy ground awaiting to get ready from her owner. She yipped excitedly, knowing something great was about to happen, but little did she know it was a race of 4 whole days and thrilling adventures on the way. Her sharp eyes scanned the area, dogs were barking here and there and walking around beside their owners, all who had their huge big padded jackets and pants on. It was freezing, the temperature of the wind right now was pretty crazy. If you didn't have the right gear on you would seriously freeze and die. Flicking her eyes back to her owner, Suranee yipped again, this time louder. She couldn't sit still any longer, she jumped up but couldn't go far cos she was tied to a long line that was tied at either end and had 8 metal rings all the way down it for all 8 dogs of the team to be hook on when not in use. There was 4 rings each side, she was hooked on the left hand side, which was the side at the very back where the wheel dogs get hooked. She sighed as she stood standing keeping her eyes locked on her owner. He was getting things ready before harnessing the dogs up. Suranee gave up and flopped down onto her stomach and laid her head on her paws, but her tail still went like mad, sweeping across the cold ground eagerly. Lifting her head, she then sat up as the teams owner came over, she yipped happily and stood up. Her owner unclipped her from the line and lead her over to the sled and put her harness on and clipped her onto the sled, of course on her usual side, the left at the back, because she was a wheel dog, one of the strongest dogs on the team. It did a lot of work being right at the back. She wagged her tail and sat down as the owner finished with her and went to go get the next wheel dog.

(Whoever posts after me, thats the order we go in the whole time please. =) Thanks. Means no one gets left out and we can all have fun together. BTW the Prize for winning the race is $100,000.)

Atiya-Kaydence scanned the area, her piercing ice blue eyes standing out amongst her calico coat. People who walked on by her stared in wonder at her coat. How could a husky get such a coloured coat? Atiya sat down and then waited around when her owner grabbed her collar and tugged her towards the sled. They walked around it, Atiya moving deliberately slow until they got around and the harness was attached to her. She was the wheel dog right beside Suranee. A strong gale of wind and snow mixed whipped by suddenly yt Atiya-Kaydence could hardly feel it. Snow sprinkled her coat and she shook it off and she sat down and looekd down at Suranee and then barked softly. She wagged her tail and looked ahead. She liked being the wheel but she had always wished to be the lead. Atleast once. But she knew it could never happen..

A shiver ran though Laska's body as he sat, tied to the end of the chain, in the freezing cold snow. He could feel the excitement in the air as he watched crowds of people coming to watch the teams of dogs go on a great race for, four hard days. He didn't actually know that he was about to go on a hard four day race, but he knew something was up. He sent out two loud barks, replying to all the other dogs barking around him, then jumped up and tugged against his chain. He couldn't get away though. He watched as his owner started to get the sled ready, and take the dogs over to it. So far he had taken Suranee and Atiya-Kaydence, the two wheel dogs over. Laska started barking, impatiently as he waited for his owner to come get him all harnessed up too.

Sitting away from the rest of the Huskies, Korgri watched the commotion around him with an apathetic scowl. The excited, barking, dashing dogs around him meant almost nothing, aside from the dogs on his own team. He had a job to do, and that was his sole focus. A sharp whistle caught his attention and his ear swivelled towards it, his intense blue eyes falling almost regally upon his master. Obediently, Korgri stood and bounded to him, moving with long, powerful strides through the thick snow. Reaching his master, he stood patiently as he was harnessed in front of Suranee, his tail still and his head held high, looking out across the large gathering of sled dogs and humans. When his master finished harnessing him up, the man gave him a hearty pat and Korgri growled, baring his sharp, gleaming fangs. His master chuckled to himself and moved off. Glancing over his grey/black shoulder, Korgri allowed his gaze to wander over Suranee, a sturdy, pretty Husky, and Atiya, a beautifully coloured Husky. Sitting without a sound, he simply waited and observed the happenings around him.

Whiskey sat boredly, his wolf body looking like it shouldn' belong. The only husky feature he had was his light blue eye and a dark green eye. He then stood up when he saw the front dogs get hitched, and waited for his turn. He hated this job so much, but atleast she wasn't fat.

Ears perked and energy flowing smoothly through his body, he refused to drain it before the race started. Laying down, he blanketed himself in snow, up to his front forelegs to keep himself warmer. Being one of the dogs near the wheel required strength and energy, so he would need to rest up. Suddenly deciding against the idea of resting, he bounced upwards, snow flicking in almost every direction and hitting a couple of his teammates, too. "Sorry," He chuckled, wagging his tail in amused delight. Pacing forward and backwards while stretching his legs out as far as they were to go to stretch, Brozah's eyes darted around, looking for his master. Most of all the other dogs and their master's were preparing, but where was his and his teammates? The question seemed unsettling at the moment, so he violently shoved it out of his head with as much force possible. Whimpering as the thought crept back into his mind, the dog felt a gentle hand touch his head, his ears lowering fondly and his tail began to wag. It was a little girl and she seemed excited to see the team before they sled off, "DOGGY!" She squealed in happiness, a beam spreading across her face. Brozah stepped forward and gently pressed his nose against her hand and swiped his pink tongue over it. Giggling, the girl toddled over to another dog.

Dieanne's eyes gleamed at the other dogs, hse was waiting to pull the sled. It was a hard job but she had to stick too it because you dont no what could happen. Dieanne pricked her ears up of a sound of a whistle. Dieanne looked straight ahead and she saw other Black wolfscharging towards her. Dieanne ran over to the leaders barked and barked. Dieanne was scared. all of a sudden her eyes went hugely big. Dieanne ran back to the sled and closed her eyes untill the leaders told her to do something. Dieanne shivered.

(Hey HWS. I agree with Sam on this one sorry. Not all the dogs are harnessed up and yeah, the beginning doesn't always have to have drama in it. So once the race has actually started and way out then things like this can happen. =D)

Moon shook her redish-white coat free of the snow that surrounded her she sat patiently waiting for her master to hook her up as a lead dog. She saw him heading toward her and she jumped up with delight as he led her over, finnaly when she was all clipped in she sat there waiting patiently.

Suranee wagged her tail and looked at Atiya-Kaydence. She smiled at her then looked at Korgri, a gorgeous looking male who sat harnessed in front of her. She barked a 'Hello' at him then glanced around waiting for the other dogs all to be hitched up. She yawned but stayed sitting. Her ears were listening and eyes were looking around with excitement and interest. Suranee couldn't wait to get going.

(I am RPing the owner for the moment.. Pinto please tell me when ya want to take over him!)

Riley smiled as he finished harnessing Korgri in, he laughed as the male husky snapped at him. But he didn't care that was just Korgri's nature, he loved him the way he was. Turning around he walked back over to the rest of the team who were all hooked on the chain when not on the sled, he walked over to Brozah, the other dog in front of the wheel dogs. He patted his head and unhooked him and lead him by his collar over to the sled and hooked him up in front of Atiya-Kaydence. Once done, he patted Brozah and smiled then walked back over to the others. He walked up to Whiskey and unhooked him and lead him back over to the sled and harnessed him up in front of Korgri, then he gave him a pat too, like he did the rest, just so none would feel left out. Turning around once again he walked over to the team and grabbed Dieanne and walked her over to the sled and hooked her up in front of Brozah. So now only the two leads were left. He smiled at his team and gave them all a rub on the way back to the two lead dogs. He unhooked Moon and lead her over to the sled and harnessed her in, in front of Whiskey, gave her a pat then walked back to grab the final dog, Laska. He chuckled softly at the eager awaiting Laska, he bent down and patted his back, then stood up once he had un-clipped him and led him over to the sled, he hooked him up in front of Dieanne. Finally all 8 dogs were on the sled. He wasn't even going to think about taking the brake off yet, not till he had everything done. He had almost everything ready, for the big race of the season. He smiled to himself, he was happy with the way the dogs were all working together happily. He turned around and walked into the cabin thing he was living in, well using and he got some of the last minute things ready, the race would be starting in an hours times.

Atiya-Kaydence sat patiently yet also rearing to go. She looked at Korgri and then at Brozah. She barked softly, her ears flicking forward and she stood up as the last dog was clipped on. But she sagged onto the ground as Riley walked into his canbin or whatever the humans called it.. She raised her nose and she sniffed the air, the scent of sasauges and bacons wafting over. She stood up once again, ears forward and she looked around to see if she could see anything but she couldn't.

Laska continued to whine softly as he watched his owner harnessing all the other dogs in the team up. His place was up at the lead, next to Moon, and he couldn't wait to finally get going. He barked a sharp bark, to tell Riley to hurry up with the other dogs and come and get him. He wagged his tail and finally went quiet when Riley headed over toward him. He stood up and pulled against his chain, but jumped back because his collar was choking him, then wagged his tail harder when Riley unhooked his chain and led him over to his position in the lead of the sled. He sat down patiently white he harnessed him up. He looked at Moon and tried to reach over and lick her muzzle.

Watching in silence as the dogs around him were harnessed, Suranee's gentle greeting caught Korgri's attention. Looking over his well muscled shoulder, he grunted in response but did not snarl nor snap at her, as he usually did with other dogs. He felt a lot of respect for the wheel dogs, and Suranee had not intended to rile him up. So, content, he turned away and sighed to himself. A sharp bark snapped nearby, to his right, but Korgri chose to ingore it. The sound returned, louder this time, and he gave in, looking towards it. A tall male Husky on a thick chain was barking at him, ears back and tail wagging fiercely. Korgri flashed his gleaming fangs at the other dog and let out a threatening growl. The big male leapt forward, hesitated, reconsidered his plans and turned away, tail low.

Whiskey sighed, and laid down on the soft snow, closing his eyes boredly. The race wouldn't start for a hour or two, so he had time to get rest.

Ears swivelling in almost any possible direction, Brozah whined in discomfort as he was hooked up to the sled beside Korgri and left there as his master walked off and disappeared within his side. Sniffing the cool air lightly, the dog sat down within the snow but remained a proud posture, sitting tall and energetically. Glancing over at the dog beside him, he lolled his tongue out to the side in relaxation, barking softly at him in small greeting before he launched himself back onto all fours and began to look around, shying the the side as a random bird swooped down low, its talons almost grazing against his dark fur.

Moon reached over and licked Laska's muzzle she was so excited; she jumped up and down with delight as she waited for the race to start. Snow fell on her coat again and she shook it off and barked and growled at the flakes that shimmered down lightly. Sighing she lied down and rested her head on her paws.

Suranee flicked a smile at Korgri as he grunted her a response. Her eyes darted around as she waited for Riley, her owner, well the teams owner. Sighing softly, she wished he would hurry up, it was so boring just sitting here, doing nothing. Lifting her paw, Suranee licked it then put it back on the ground it was cold from standing in the snow that was deepish.

Riley finished doing what he needed, he packed the last of things then he walked out his cabin door with everything and then locked the door, he quickly glanced at his clock and swore, he was going to be late, why had he taken so long getting the last of everything ready. He sighed and jogged over to the patiently wait team who all looked bored out of their minds. Laughing at them he packed everything in the sled and jumped on it. He took off the brake and unclipped the rope attached to the back of it, then he placed his hands on the handle properly and feet in the right place then he said 'Mush'. (Or whatever they say lol!!) He wanted the dogs to head over to the starting line.
