Lost and Alone
Popcorn blinked a couple of times. She scanned the area tiredly. Alone, in a tiny cage, was the fluffy Pomeranian. Where was she? The entire room was pitch dark with only a pinch of sunlight from holes in the dusty wall. There were many cages in the room and many dogs were squeezed into each cage, only a few empty. Most of them were so starved that their bone structure could be visible. Some were howling away while others that had space in their cages would lie there, hoping for some food or water.
Piocorn cowered in fear to the corner of her cage. Where were her siblings? Her mother and father? That little girl who always liked to cuddle her? She was thirsty, hungry, tired, wanted to go back to the safety of her home, but she could not recall anything, where she was, or why she was here. Popcorn was shivering vigorously when suddenly, the door to the room cracked open.
