A frighting experience.

Kayla whimpered as she sat in the front seat of her master's car. For some reason her master was angry, was it her fault? she did not know, but what she did know, was he was angry at her. All she had done was tried to bury her bone in the garden... It's not like that's a crime. Although it was quite a mess once she had found the perfect place. She cowered as her master climbed in the car, next to her. He started to shout at her "You mangy mutt! You won't be able to find you're way back once I've gotten rid of you!" He shouted, smacking her one more time. Kayla yelped. The car started to move, and it moved for about half an hour, until it stopped. Kayla could just see outside, all she could see was tree's and a few houses. Her master reached over her and opened the door beside her, he shoved her out the door. Kayla whimpered, she was confused. Then her master drove off. She watched as he left her, alone and scared. She stayed where she was, not sure what to do. Maybe her master would come back? So she just sat there.

After waiting for two days, just sitting there, Kayla realized her Master wasn't coming back. She whimpered then stood up, a sharp pain shot through her back left leg, she favored that leg, and started to walk, where was she to go?.... She looked around, she saw a few houses, perhaps they would take her in? She limped to one of the house, not realizing they weren't home she scratched at the door. No one came. Kayla sighed and turned around, she walked out of the property and kept walking, she saw an ally way, and walked over to it, she lay down there and sighed, she felt very rejected. It was getting late and she needed rest, she closed her eyes and drifted to sleep. Tomorrow, she would search for food.

Rough padded along the cold concrete, panting hard and loud. He sniffed the air carefully then growled at a human passing near him, going to pat his soft coat. Once they had backed off he forced himself no matter how tired he was to sprint off down an alley way, skidding to a stop and sniffed some rubbish cans getting the scent of raw meat. He bonked hard on the can until it toppled forward and bashed loudly onto the ground, the rubbish inside slowly overflowed out onto the hard concrete, that had large cracks down the alley. He sniffed at the rubbished then pulled out a pack of raw meat, with sharp teeth ripped open the light sealing that blocked his way to the food. He ate it slowly and glanced around after he had finished his meal, it was large enough to satisfy him. He shook his coat then trotted down further into the darkness of the thin yet long alley.

Kayla woke, to a loud noise. It sounded like a gun shot, but who would be shooting a gun at this time of they day, in a town? She stood and growled, she tried to think what would make a similar noise, A car crash? A falling Rubbish bin? Ah that was it, she had heard that noise before, she used to do that when she had lived with her master at the House. She padded, while limping through the ally way, toward the noise. She hadn't gotten to far when she spotted Rough. She stopped in her tracks, and put her heckles up, she growled slowly and starred at Rough. Should she approach Him? She flattened her ears and barked, "Who are you?" she asked, her voice was half sacred, and half curious. She pondered whether she should run, or stay. Well she couldn't really run, as she had a injured leg, from her master abusing her. So she stayed put, just starring at him.

Rough stopped to a halt as he heard a growl then turned around, noticing her pinned back ears and uneasy voice he tensed up a little. His ears slowly moved back and a quiet growl rumbled in his throat, he wasn't in the mood. "Rough." He said, his tone was obviously uneasy yet not scared at all. He stopped panting from his exhaustion then slightly showed his sharp teeth, he wanted no harm but he wanted to show that he would stand his ground.

Kayla was unsure of Rough, she didn't know who she could trust now. She had trusted her master, until he started abusing her, although she did still love him. she put her ears forward slightly, and glanced past Rough, at the fallen rubbish bin, she licked her lips, then looked back at Rough "Were you the one that pushed the bin down?" she asked. She wanted to just run past him, and eat as much food as she could, But she didn't. She was starving, she hadn't eaten in about a week. Her owner had starved her for 5 days, when she was with him. All her ribs were showing, and you could see her backbone. She looked at Rough, She wondered whether he was a friendly dog, or not? She relaxed a little, and starred at him.

Rough finally stopped growling, maybe she wasn't going to be as bad as he thought. "Yeah." He answered simple looking back at the tipped over rubbish can, and the others standing up tall and thick, their smell was strong. "Are you hungry?" He asked very slowly going into a more relaxed position, his ears slightly moved forward. He looked at her bony body then back at the cans, there should be enough for now.

"Um, yeah." Kayla said pricking her ears, she walked a little closer toward Rough, her injured leg felt although it were burning, she lifted the injured leg of the ground and sighed, hopefully it would heal up soon, it was the leg that had been broken when she was a pup, when she was been hit by a car. She glanced at her leg then looked at Rough, did he live on the streets too? Perhaps his Master abandoned him too? She gave a weak smile "I'm Kayla by the way." she said.

Rough watched her, staring at her leg that limped after he as she walked, looking up at her as she lifted it off the cold concrete that was cracked and abandoned. He nodded slightly as she intrusive herself. "Rough." He answered simply. He sat down and relaxed more, closing his eyes as the cold gushes of wind flew past them.

Kayla walked past Rough, still starring at Him. She glanced at the ground at a piece of food that had flowed out of the bin, that Rough had knocked over, she ate it then looked back at Rough. "So why are you out here on the streets?" she asked, she thought of her master dumping her and sighed.

Rough opened his eyes at her voice., just managing to hear it. "I don't really have a choice, you?" He asked turning the question around, not wanting to continue on that subject for him. He turned to face Kayla, lying down. He watched her then his hunger forced him to knock down another trash can. He stood and turned away, sprinting to another further in the dark alley.

Kayla's face hardened at the thought of her master. "Um, same." she said. She watched Rough, then limped over to a tipped bin, and ate some scraps. She lay down, and turned to lick her injured leg, it was bleeding slightly, she looked back at Rough "Did you ever have a person?" she asked.

Rough paused, it didn't like to think of it like his person.... It was nothing like 'his' person. "Sorta." He said. He charged harshly into the can and it toppled over, it crashing against the hard concrete. He tugged at the top of the can until it came of then pawed at the rubbish inside, it coming out onto the cold ground.

Kayla watched Rough's expressions, she nodded. "I had one, he kinda abandoned me, a few day's ago. That's why I'm here, and i don't even know where here is." she said standing. She walked over to the tipped rubbish, and pulled out a half eaten, ham sandwich. She devoured it, then looked at Rough, "What do you mean by, you sorta had a person?" she asked.

"I did yet I didn't" He said simply pawing his way through the trash that had scattered all over the small cracks in the old concrete. He clanged onto a can of some sort of tinned food then lied down, biting into it until some of the metal gave in. He ate the cold yet prepared food then hit the can once he licked out the remaining scarps inside of it, it flying across the ground like when you skipped a rock against the water with loud bangs. He watched it rebound of the wall then land next to his paw again, chuckling slightly.

Kayla gave Rough, an confused look. "I'm not getting you?....." she said. "What do you mean?" she asked, she watched the can, that Rough chucked, then looked back at him, still confused.

"I did then OK." Rough said, his ears falling back slightly. He lightly pushed the empty, crushed, can further away from him then sat down, examining with his eyes for another small snack that would help keep him satisfied for longer.

"Oh..." Kayla said, she wasn't going to ask more because she didn't want to annoy this strange male dog. She heard her stomach growl, and looked at the rubbish lying on the ground, she was hungry but she was more interested in Rough. She flicked her ears around, "How long have you been....alone?" she asked.

"A while, I'm not sure really but I know its been over a few months." Rough said, he was glad he was alone for all this time, been starving and alone was so much then his..... Rough didn't know what to call it, it didn't go in the category for home.

Kayla nodded. She heard giggling up ahead, and spotted two girls walking down the alley. The girls spotted Kayla and Rough and started to walk toward them. "Oh look at those dogs! There so cute!" Kayla heard one of the girls say. They approached Kayla and put there hand out to her, "Come on, little dog? you hungry?" they asked, then one of the girls started to walk toward Rough. Kayla let out a deep growl, and bared her teeth slightly, the girl quickly backed away and looked at the other girl, who was almost at Rough. "Katie, don't touch the dog, I don't think there very friendly." the girl said then caught up to the girl, who she had called Katie. "Maybe we should call the animal control?" they said then kept walking. Kayla gave a satisfied nod, but she was a little worried when they said Animal Control.... She sighed then sat back down, and starred at Rough. "Stupid girls..." she muttered to herself.

Rough snarled then sprinted after him, animal control was the last thing that was happening to him. He looked around, there wasn't very much people down this street when it was dark, which was good. He growled loudly then grabbed one of the girls jeans, tugging on it harshly.

Kayla looked at Rough, horrified. She had never biten a human. She ran over to Rough and the girls, who were now screaming, she growled. "What are you doing?!" She barked. She looked at the girls, the taller girl was kicking at Rough "Get off her!" she screamed. The younger girl, katie was screaming her head off, trying to get Rough off her leg. Kayla didn't know whether to help Rough, or help the girls. She flattened her ears, and lunged for the taller girl, grabbing her arm, ripping the material of her sleeve.

Rough snarled as he felt her foot harshly hitting his ribcage. He growled loudly then jumped up onto her, his paws on her stomach. He snarled then pushed her back. He looked down at her as she tumbled backwards, desperately shuffling backwards.

Kayla shook the girls arm. The girl was screaming, and crying, trying to get away. Kayla let go of the girls arm and suddenly froze, what was she doing? attacking a human.... what was she thinking? This wasn't her. She looked at Rough, then back at the girl, then turned around and ran. She ran past the bins, that had rubbish scattered around them, she exited the alley, and kept running, she didn't know where she was going but she didn't care. She just kept running....

Rough watched her leave, growling as one of the girls punched his jaw. He turned back and snapped at the girls hand, she screamed as he grabbed it in his jaw. The other girl kicked him and he let go, ripping her shorts. He turned then sprinted off, sighing as nothing good will come of that.
