Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Trying To Correct Her Life

Post  ginganinja Sat Oct 23, 2010 2:48 am

Kris woke up at 5am like everyother morning. had a shower, pulled on her underwear and jeans, ate a piece of toast with rasberry jam, cleaned her teeth and brushed her hair, braiding it quickly. She opened the door of her caravan and then quickly grabbed her shirt, walked outisde, shut the door and tugged her shirt over her head and over her. She then opened the stable doors, the early morning light, lighting the stables. She threw on her hat which sat on a pile of hay and then she started her daily work. She cleaned out the stalls and fed and watered the horses. She waited for an hour before she led one horse out and groomed it and then threw its tack on. She led it over to the jumping ring, warmed the horse up and then went 2 rounds of the course. A few were tapepd lightly in the beginning but by the end they were flying over them. Once done she untacked the horse, groomed it againa dn rinsed it off. She did that to all the horses. By the time she was finished all the horses which needed to be done in the midday and time for their lunch. She fed the horses and then glanced at her watch. Only 3 hours before she'd have to start work again. Kris skipped her lunch and went and grabbed Striker her quarter horse X thoroughbred stallion and threw his tack on. She mounted him and then circled him around in a few alrge circles to stretch is legs and then she nudged him into a trot out the ranch. She rode down the road, now in a canter. They shortly made it to the town and she glanced around and dismounted. She tugged his reins over his head and led him through the town. She bought an apple and fed it to Striker as she walked towards the other side of town. Once the stallion finished his red apple she threw his reins over and vaulted onto him, nudging him into a canter. She quickly got to the other side and made her way down the road. She came to some stables and she cantered up the driveway. She chucked a $50 note to the owner and then roade into the arena where 3 barrels sat in a triangular shape near the top and poles st on the other end. She reached down and shut the gate, checked the time. 2 and a half hours left. Good. She walked Striker towards the barrels and stopped him a little wy away. With a sudden 'Yah!' Striker took off with incredible speed, going around one barrel, the next and then to the top and then sprinting home. She then slowed Striker to a canter and made her way to the poles, weaving between them with agility impossible to most horses. Not even a graze over them. Once down the poles she did the round one more time and then made her way out. She reached down and unlocked the gate and then rode Striker out, who's breathing was slightly laboured. It was then that Kris noticed someone watching her. A guy who seemed quite tall. Stood near the stables, just watching her intensely. Kria held his gaze for a minute or so before the owner of the stables walked up to her and asked, "Are you sure you can't work for us? We'd love to have you and Striker amongst us. You two make a fine team."
Kria held the guy's gaze for a moment longer in question before reluctantly looking down at the lady and she smield regretfully and said, "I'm sorry, but I can't. I've already got a job at the pine Ranch." which earned her a sigh and then a, "I can handle that, i'll just talk to your boss. He should understand."Kris just shook her head and glanced quickly at the guy again.
"Who's that?"Kris asked and the lady glanced at the guy and then said" Just some new guy we hired."Kris nodded and then waved goodbye the the lady and nudged Striker into a canter out the ranch and up the road. She made her way threw the town, slowing due to traffic. She checked her watched as she got out the town. only 5 minutes until she started. Kria groaned nad then nudged Striker into a gallop and made it just on time. She untacked Striker and rinsed him ever so quickly and let him in the paddock and then exercised the horses again and then at 6 gave them dinner. She then went into the caravan, grabbed her pajamas and had another shower and got changed into her pajamas. At 12 she went to bed.

Though it was Saturday the next day adn the weekends she had off. She woke p at 3 this time and then got ready for the day. She grabbed Striker, fed him, gave him water, waited a couple hours and then tacked him up. Warmed the chestnut stallion up and then rode out Pine Ranch and to the other ranch which she arrived at by 6. The owner was already there. Kris dismounted and smiled as the lady said, "at least we have you to help around on the weekends, my dear," Kris then untcked Striker and put him in a spare stall. She fed the horses, watered them and then exercised a couple. By 9 though the owner told her to have a break. She grabbed Striker, saddled him up and then went through the barrels and poles course a few times and then rode out on a trail which led to a cliff. Only she knew of this exact trail and location. So she was always at peace here. She dismounted Striker, let him wander and she sat down, feet dangling over the cliff edge as she watched the eath beneath her. She watched as a herd of wild horses disappeared amongst trees and reappear in a field and stopped to graze.
Here she didn't have to think about working at Pine Ranch due to going to prison. Why she went there. More then once. She didn't have to think about it. Yet she always did. Why had she stolen that car, that horse and why had she resisted arrest? She knew why she stole the horse. Because it was going to be slaughtered. Killed. But why the car? Why resist arrest? Kris gave a heavy sigh and she flopped back onto her back and she blinked. What stood a few metres behind her was that guy from yesterday, just looking down at her. Kris sat bolt upright and then turned and stared up at him, "why are you here? How did you find this place? And just who are you?" the questions just came out of her and she didn't know why..

What happened after that, Kris did not expect. A dog came running out towards ad shoved her harshly. She yelped in surprise as she felt herself fall over the edge. She clawed for the edge and managed to grab on before she fell. But the guy walked forward, dead leaves and rocks crunching under his boots. As he stood over her he lifted on foot and slammed it down one one of her hands. Kris head snaps and cracks and knew it was broken. She tried to pull away but she couldn't until the guy lifted his foot. Without being able to hold on with both hands the guy pushed her other hand off the edge and she fell as the guy ran off. Kris screamed and what felt like forever she slammed into rocky ground, hearing sickening sounds from her ribs. She knew she either broke or fractured them. Kris groaned adn she managedf to push herself up with much effort. She looked up. The edge was only a few metres up. She noticed she had landed on a ledge. She couldn't climb up. Kris glanced voer the ledge and saw it was about 30m until ground. She looekd up and saw Striker running along the edge, trying to find the way down. Kris took in a huge gulp of air and then called, "Help!" she called for over 2 hours still noone came. She would get into trouble when she got back to the stables due to being already 2hours late. Kris glanced down again and then, slowly she put her foot over the edge and started to climb down, trying her best to ignore the searing, burning pain in her right hand and her ribs. She climbed slowly and surely and noticed Striker down the bottom. Kris sighed in relief and then made her way slowly down until she lost her footing. She gasped and fell a couple metres against the cliff wall, clawing for support before grabbing hold of the rocky side again. She was now covered in scrapes and scratches and her shirt was torn. She still climbed down slowly, slipping a couple times but managing to hold on. Eventually she made her way to the bottoma dn she patted Striker like her did all the hard work. "Good boy,"she said and then mounted him. She was well over 6 hours late now. It was 6. Kris glanced down at her shirt which was now only rags clinging to her and she ripped it off and shoved part of it in her jean pocket. She was now in her jeans and her sports bra. She didn't care though. It wasn't like anyone was here. Kris nudged Striker into a canter, feeling exhausted. She wouldn't be able to stay on Striker the whole time whilst she took her back up to the ranch. She dismounted him with some effort and she led him over to a small field surrounded by trees, so hopefully noone would come and she untacked Striker and laid his saddleblnket down and then walked voer to a small stream and had a drink. When she looked back Striker was lying on his side on the blanket and she nickered towards her. "That's mine;"Kria said but Striker didn't move, "fine;"she said and walked over to him and laid down, half on the ground and half on Striker's stomach. The two soon fell asleep.

Once she woke up it was 3 in the morning and Kris felt better. She stood up and so did Striker and then she had a drink at the stream and then went and picked the saddle blanklet up, flicked the dirt and grass of and then laid on over Striker's backa nd then threw his saddle on, tightened the girtha dn then put his bridle on. It was Sunday so she had no work today. She'd have to apologise another day. She moved Striker on a few circles around the eifld and as it became lighter she nudged Striker into a trot, making their way deeper into the trees. After it was 9 am they came across a few hectres of just grass and a few wild horse herds dotted the area. Kris slowed Striker into a slow walk and made her way through the area. The herds inched away though did not flee. And then the realisation hit her. They were on a reserve for wild animals. Which meant that people would be close by. Though Kris ignored the thoughts and dismounted Striker, pulling his reins over his head and she sat down. Her stallion grazed as she watched the wild horses. Some moved closer though never too close. Once midday hit Kris mounted Striker and then nudged him into a canter, looking around for any sign of human civilisation.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Post  OutcastAngel Tue Oct 26, 2010 1:15 pm

"And... upsy-daisy!" The red-headed female whipped the sweat from her forehead as she finished stacking up the new bales of hay in the loft, and had finished storing the bags of feed that had been delivered earlier that day. With the end of this chore, it was the end of her work shift, though April had been called in to work overtime since Kris had never returned after her break. The wiry female would break that little wench's neck the next time she saw her, since April had promised her son they could go for a trail ride this afternoon after his school let out and her shift was over. She had planned to have Scotty and Pumpkin tacked up and ready to go before he got here, but since she had to work late, she didn't have time.

In fact, she had just sat down on one of the barrels when she heard the pattering of little booted feet running towards the barn. With a soft groan, April got back up and walked out to meet her son. Davin was a 6 yr old boy in kindergarten, he was very sharp and eager to learn, but not very trustful of strangers. He had brown hair and blue eyes, and while April had auburn red hair and brown eyes, he looked more like her than his father, of that she was grateful. He ran right up to her and jumped up to tackle her. Laughing, April caught him in midair and held him up. "Mama, guess what we did in school today?"

"What did you do?" She asked a smile creeping up on her face for the first time that day. Nothing made her happier than hearing about her son's day at school. This was because she knew that, had she never come here to work, he would not have been able to go to school. "We played with Clay, and learned my BCA's." Davin said, eagerly. April chuckled. "Oh really? You learned your ABC's, huh?"

"Yeah, see? A-B-C-D-E... er... F-G-H-I... um... -J-K-LMNOP..." April listened quietly as Davin sang and she carried him into the barn and sat him down on the Trunk outside Scotty's Stall. Davin took his backpack off and laid it down on the space beside him while his mom took his shoes off and replaced them with his stable boots. "Do you have any homework to do? Lemme see your planner." Davin turned towards his backpack and opened it to get out his planner and hand it to her. "Hmmm..." April said as she read what the teacher had put. "Looks like you have a math worksheet to do and you need to read this book, huh? Alright, well, you'd better go into the kitchen and get to it, young man, or else we're not going anywhere with Pumpkin, understand?"

"Yes, ma'am." He said, reluctantly getting to his feet and running off to the barn's kitchen where he could do his homework. "No running!" She shouted after him. Davin didn't hear her. April sighed and shook her head after him, a smile still lit her features. Then she took out the grooming kit and let herself into Scotty's stall. she put on the rope halter, then led him out to the cross ties, where she groomed him down and did his hooves. She tacked him up and led him back into the stall so that he could wait while she did the same thing to Pumpkin, Davin's little pony. She tacked him up and led him out to the round ring to work him a little bit. She knew that Pumpkin was a little excitable and he needed to be worked with before she would let Davin get on him so that he was calmer than he would be if she let him get on without working him.

April would NEVER let Davin get on a horse that was too excitable; she'd never be able to live with herself if something happened and he got hurt. That's why she wanted to make absolutely sure that Pumpkin wouldn't do anything when her little boy was riding him. By the time she was finished with him, Davin was back, and showed her his completed homework. When this had her approval, she helped him get on Pumpkin's back, and then went to fetch Scotty. When they were both set to go, she led the way away from K.C. ranch towards one of the trails that she knew led into the reserve.

They forded a couple streams, and jumped a few small logs, and April smiled at how happy Davin seemed to be. When they entered the reserve, they passed a herd of Deer which turned and started to leap away over the tall grass. April and Davin brought their horses to a canter and followed after them. Going deeper into the reserve, brought them near a herd of wild horses and April looked around at them. Then she spotted one of the horses farther away had a human on it's back and she narrowed her eyes. "That's odd... there shouldn't be anyone else out here." She thought. Davin pointed this out to her, out loud. "Look mommy, another rider! Should we go over and say hello?"

April frowned a little. "I suppose we could... but stay close to me, okay? It's a stranger after all, and you know what I've told you about Strangers." Davin nodded, then recited the following. "'Strangers can't be trusted. Though some of them are nice, I shouldn't ever talk to them without you there.'" April nodded. "Very good. Alright, let's go see what this person is doing on the wildlife reserve." She nudged Scotty into a trot and heard Davin do the same.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Kris rode Striker smoothly, the two moving together after years of riding togeher. Suddenly Kris saw 2 horses with people upon them and she slowed Striker to a walk. As the two came closer she saw that one was April and the other was her 6yr old son, Davin. damn it Kris growled silently to herself. She's going to be in so much trouble. She knew that April wasn't too keen on her and after not coming back to the stables April would have been called in. Kris glanced away then back at April and Davin. She gave a small, wry smile as they came closer until they were only about 2 metres away and her smile faded. She saw April's expression at her being here and Kris felt Striker growing restless and uncomfortable around them. "Hi, April;"Kris said and then looked at Davin and said, "hey Davin."a cold wind blew and Kris shivered and glanced down, remembering that she had to take her shirt off to only be in her sport top and her jeans her ripped and close to being shredded. Kris sighed heavily and then looked back at April and Davin then looekd at Scotty and Pumpkin. Scotty was gorgeous and Pumpkin was cute.
Suddenly Striker reared as the two horses came too close and although Kris managed to stay on due to being used to the stallion doing this but what threw her off was the thoroughbred X quarter horse shy away, kick out and then, as if trying to shake Kris from him he rolled and Kris managed to jump off him. The chestnut stallion leapt to his feet, pinned his ears at the two horses and then took off, kicking out. Kris stared after her horse and then called, "Striker! Come back here!"
The chestnut hesitated as if debating with himself whther or not to. He slowed to a halt, looked abck and saw the two horses and took off again but only in a slow canter, as if waiting for Kris
"damn horse."Kris muttered and then glanced at the two and said, "sorry, " and then bolted after Striker.

(sorry it's short)

April's anger with Kris, however, evaporated at the sight of her- she looked like she'd been kicked off a cliff. She was about to ask what had happened to her when she saw Striker rear up and attempt to dislodge his rider, then, when she was standing there, April's hand was on her lasso (Which was something she ALWAYS had with her.... just for emergencies.) She kicked Scotty into a fast gallop and the two of them raced after Striker. "Stay with Davin, Kris, I'll get him!" She was already whirling the lasso above her head and nudging Scotty faster to catch up with the stupid stallion.

Davin smiled and giggled in pleasure as he watched his mom gallop off. He loved to watch her when she was roping stuff, only because she was really good at it. "When I grow up, I'ma be a roper, just like my mama!" He said proudly to Kris. "I practice on Pumpkin all the time." Pumpkin snorted as though to say he didn't really mind this at all, seeing as the boy had only managed to rope him twice in the month he'd been practicing. Davin went on for a while about how great he was doing in school, as they waited for April to come back.

(That's okay. :3)

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Post  ginganinja Wed Oct 27, 2010 4:12 am

Kris stopped as April told her to stay with Davin. She couldn't really argue, she was getting her horse for her, and she was going to be in trouble anyway so not like it amttered. Kris walked abck to Davin and listened to him with a slight smile, though barely noticeable and she watched April, Scotty and Striker.

Striker heard the thundernd of horses and the smell of human and he glanced abck and saw April and Scotty. The chestnut stallion kicked out and then leapt into a full on gallop. Though after already going for a full day he was growing tired. The two shortly caught up and she swerved away but they kept close to him. Striker bucked out at Scotty, hopeing to make him hesitate and slow. But soon he saw the lasso whizzed infront of his vision and then, about to shy away the rope came around his neck and jerked him to a stop. The thoroughbred X quarter horse half reared and threw his head around but had no choise but to go with the two. Though pulling against it and keeping as far away as possible from Scotty. But as they got closer to Pumkin and Davin he struggled more. Though as his gaze drew across Kris who was standing there glaring at him Striker settled downa nd actually cowered away from her. Although he was obviously the stronger animal Kris had always been more dominant and leading one. As he came closer he pressed his face against Kris but she just pushed him away and Striker flicked his ears back, upset.

Kris looked at Striker as he looked away, ears back, upset and Kris knew that he knew he did wrong and she reached over and stroked his nose. The stallion instantly looked at her, ears forward, eyes alight and nickered at her. Kris smield and then looked at April, "thank you so much for getting Striker back for me," she said honestly, "'m sorry about him playing up. He's uh, very.... bad around horses he doesn't trust if they're around people.."she glanced at Striker who lowered his head, as if in apology and then Kris looked at April again, "and i'm sorry about me not coming back to the stables... I had some... uh, complications."

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Post  OutcastAngel Wed Oct 27, 2010 6:47 pm

April quickly wrapped the lead around her saddle horn the moment she had managed to capture Striker. She could tell the appendix stallion was already exhausted and had used up the last of his energy to try running from Scotty and April. Apart from utter exhaustion, Striker seemed to be fine, it was Kris's condition that had April worried. What exactly had happened to make her come out looking like she'd gotten in a fight with a lawnmower... and lost? As Striker bucked and started acting up, April gave him a glare, though Scotty just snorted peaceably and kept plodding on, back to Kris and Davin. He was old enough not to really care about showing off and being flashy, but he was very proud, so he carried his tail and head high, even in a slow walk as they were in right now.

"You look like you got kicked off a cliff, what happened?" April asked as she replaced the lasso around Strikers neck with Scotty's rope halter, that was big enough to fit him, and tied the lead on her saddle horn. Davin was beside himself with excitement at having watched his mom rope a horse at a headlong gallop. April shook her head. "What's more important is that you're safe- the ranch owners were getting antsy cause they were worried about you. Anyways, we need to get you to the hospital, that scratch on your arm's looking infested. Davin, you lead the way home, can you do it?"

Davin nodded, and turned Pumpkin around and the little chestnut pony began to walk ahead, back the way they had come. April reached down to give Kris a hand so that she could get up on Scotty's back behind her and the two could lead an exhausted Striker back to the stables, where he could rest and relax. Scotty didn't seem to mind carrying 2 humans on his back, or towing another horse, so they followed behind Davin closely.

Kris didn't answer when April asked her what happened... How could she explain? How could April even beleive her? Kris glanced at Striker again as April held out her hand and then she took it and vaulted onto Scotty, sitting behind April. As they started moving Kris looked at Striker who was following slowly, though still as far away as possible. Though now he was calm enough not to act up. Kris sighed softlya dn then looked past April's shoulder to see where they were going. She didn't have any idea hat the reserve was basically connested to the ranch.
Kris stayed silent the whole way there, not uttering another word. Not even when they got back to the ranch and she was asked questions. Kris saw the guy who had pushed her off satre at her as if she wasn't real and then walk to his car and drive off. Kris' gaze followed his car until she could no longer see it. The owner's voice and the people around her, their voices sounded distant and far to Kris. She grabbed Striker's reins, taking the lasso off hm and handing iit silentl;y to Aprila dn then she led him to a stall and untacked him and put him in the stall which the owner had always left free for Striker. Then, even though she didn't exactly have time, Kris, out of habit grabbed a brush and groomed the chestntu stallion down, her mind wnadering to far away palces. But April's voice snapped her to reality and she shook her head and looked at the redhead.

April had put up Scotty and had helped Davin untack Pumpkin. Her son was now in Pumpkin's stall, grooming the pony down and April had come to see how Kris was. She was standing outside Striker's stall door when Kris turned to look at her. She smiled a little to tell her she wasn't in trouble. "You're going to have to tell us what happened, Kris. The owner of the Ranch has told me to take you to the hospital. And the doctors will want to know what happened, they won't take no for an answer."

Her voice was grim, but gentle, and she let herself into the stall to pat Striker's neck. Picking up one of the brushes, she began to help Kris groom the stallion. "Oh, and you realize that the owner of K.C. Ranch, also owns the wildlife reserve, right?" She asked, smiling a little. "That's why they want to know what happened, because whatever happened to you, happened on their property."

Kris watched April as she came in and then help brush Striker. She listened to her and then continued brushing the chestnut. She didn't want to speak but she felt she could tell April for some reason. She just felt....safe when she around her. Keis continued to brush the chestnut and didn't dare to look at April as she said, "I know this'll sound ridiculous but.... The new guy that started working here. He pushed me down the cliff. ..."she trailed off adn stepped away. As if maybe that feeble motion wll wipe away the reality of what had happened. That maybe it was all just a dream.

Striker snorted turned is head and nudged April after Kris trailed off. As if he was trying to say it was all true.

April listened thoughtfully as Kris told her what happened, her brow furrowed only when Kris spoke of how the new guy who worked here had pushed her off the cliff. When Striker snorted at her, April stayed silent, mulling over what Kris had said, and wondering how to respond. After a moment that seemed like hours, the red-head looked up from her combing of Striker's mane and said, "That's a serious accusation to make, but... I believe you. His record stands against him. He was in prison for 20 years because he shot someone while robbing a convenience store, and got caught for it after an attempted rape went sour. The money he stole was returned, but it was only a couple hundred dollars. To kill someone for that little amount of money? No telling what a guy like that is capable of."

April said, sounding serious. She had been a little iffy about the guy too, especially since she knew he had attempted to rape someone, but what Kris said, troubled her. The guy had been hired here, swearing up and down that he was a changed man, but if what Kris said was the truth, then he was still doing weird shit, and probably would wind up doing something bad enough to land himself in jail again. In the meantime, girls needed to look out for each other. April's eyes grew hard, suddenly as she thought of this and when she looked up at Kris, she spoke again. "Kris, from now on, when you want to go riding, go riding with me or Davin. If this guy's targeting you for some reason, he'll have more trouble doing so if you're always with someone. Make sure you never talk to him when you're alone. Don't let him get near you if you're not in a place that's surrounded by other people. So in other words, when you come to work here, buddy up with someone, and it'd be best if you buddy up with me, because he hasn't tried anything yet with me. If he does, I'll kick his ass in."

April sounded serious, and it was true, being a former street walker, April knew exactly how to protect herself from perverts. At that moment, Davin came running up to the stall door and climbed up on the bottom board to peep into the stall. He was just tall enough to rest his nose on the top board of the door.

Kris listened to April speak and stepped back towards Striker. As she finished speaking and then said to buddy up, preferably with her, Kris sighed softly and then finished brushing Striker, and just low enough for April to understand she said, "look, April. Thanks for your help and everything but i'm fine. I was just taken by surprise. It won't ever happen again. And in any case, I won't be missed if anything does happen. Someone who has been in jail is never missed. Not even by their family."she had said the whole thing, keeping her gaze away from April. Finally she looked at her and then said, "thanks and all. But i can look after myself. He just got lucky."she then walked towards the stall door, touched Striker's nose for a moment vbefore walking out the stall, locking ti and then walking out the stables. She'd have to go home shortly. But she wouldn't take Striker. He'd already been through enough as it was.
Kris sighed and then, ignoring everyone telling her to go to the hospital and asking questions she walked out the ranch and down the road.

April watched her go, then sighed and bedded down Striker, putting a few flakes of hay in the hay netting, then gave him fresh water and fed him when it was time to feed the other horses. Once all this was finished for all the horses(not just Striker,) April got in her car with Davin and drove fast down the road to catch Kris. She was able to catch up to her at the cross roads, since the ranch was about 20 miles from town, and April knew that Kris's home was 16 miles after that. It would take her 6 hours on foot to get there. When she saw Kris walking along the side of the road and it was getting dark, she braked to a stop in front of her, and reached over to open the door. "Get in. I'm taking you to the hospital, and I'm not taking no for an answer."

The red-head's most prominent character trait, was her hard-headed stubbornness. When she got it in her head that she was going to do something, she was going to do it, and nothing, not even the gods, could dissuade her from doing it. So when she had the idea to give Kris a ride to the hospital, she would not take no for an answer. She would follow the female until she agreed to go, besides that, April knew that Kris would be sorely sorry tomorrow morning if she didn't go.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Kris heard the car coming up but thought nothing of, thinking it was just a regular car coming past. But as it slowed to a stop beside Kris glanced to the side and saw April. Yet as she demanded her to get in the car and she'd take her to the hospital, Kris' hotheaded and stubborn side kicked in and she said, "screw you. Make me."and continued walking at her regular pace. She wasn't going anywhere with her now. Not even if she screamed at her. Kris completely ignored April and just kept walking, pace set and steady at a quick yet calm speed. She didn't look back and just looked forward, relaxing as the lights dimmed the further she got from her.

April revved up the car and kept pace with Kris, though after a while, she accelerated so that she was ahead of the female, and turned so that the length of the car blocked Kris's way forward. "Get in." April said, a little more stubbornly. Of the two of them, a stubborn stand off was not something April wanted to get into now. She was not going to argue, it was simply- "get-in-the-car-or-I-will-make-you-get-in-the-car." The look on April's face made this clear.

Davin was looking at Kris from the backseat window, and he would smile and wave at her in a friendly manner if she looked his way. Davin didn't normally warm up to strangers so easily, but he liked Kris a lot, and thought of her as his aunt... of sorts.

Kris stopped as April stopped her car nfront of her. She noticed Davin and she waved back slightly. Then she looked at April and then she walked aound the car, saying, "i'm not getting in that car for the life of me!"she then continued to walk up the road. She completely ignored April. She didn't want to go to the hospital. Didn't want to stay near that place or April. Hours ago she had felt safe around her and told her what happened to her and now she didn't want anything to do with her. Kris growled to herself and then sped into a jog.

April sighed, and then turned the car to follow after Kris, when she sped into a jog, April kept pace with her, making sure she went just fast enough to stay by her side. She said nothing more, and except for the growl of the car engine, the silence between them was rather heavy. The red-head wasn't going to give-up till Kris was sitting in the front seat, and, though she didn't particularly want to take it that far, she'd run Kris over if it meant she'd be able to take the female to the hospital.

For now, however, she merely followed Kris, lighting her path with the car's headlights as the sun went down and the moon began to rise up from behind them.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Kris completely ignored April following her. She ignored her, the car and even Davin and just kept going. After what seemed like forever they got to town but even then she ignored them. Yet as they came closer to the hospital, Kris slowed to a walk and then was about to change course to veer right around it. She wouldn't go there. Yet, suddenly, April following her started to get on her nerves and she stopped and spun around and growled"Just leave me alone already! I'm not a child anymore I can look after myself!"
Then as if on queue someone who had been walking along the road, ran right into her and then muttered, "watch where you're going,"and walked off. Though after he turned away the pain struck her and she clutched as her ribs, kneeling on the ground as the pain shot like lightning throughout her whole body. She knew it was broken. How she had put up with the pain to this extent even she didn't know. Though as the pain dimmed, even the slightest bit, Kris struggled to her feet, fighting against the pain and walked off, gripping her ribs.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

April sighed, stopped the car and got out to approach Kris on the ground. "Come on, you NEED the hospital. I'm not trying to be forceful, but I care about you. Everyone else at the ranch cares about you, That rib needs treatment before it gets any worse. Stop being stupid and let me help you." Aprils next most prominent characteristic was her blunt honestly. She had little tact, preferring just to say what she meant in the simplest of forms. It often meant that she could get herself into trouble a lot, because blunt honesty can sting like a blunt axe. It came into play now, because she thought Kris was being stupid by not accepting the help she needed.

She would pull Kris close to her, letting the other female lean against her shoulder for support, and help her into the front seat of the car.

Kris ignored April. Though this time unntetional. All she could concentrate on now was willing the pain away. Though it did nothing to help. Though as April pulled her towards her Kris surprisingly didn't resist though as they came closer to the car she dug her heels into the ground, not wanting to get in it. Though the overloading mass of tension within her sent sparks of pain to her ribs and she groaned lightly and sat down on the front seat, doing up her seatbelt slowly and then leaning her head back against the headrest and closing her eyes. She felt the car start to move though she heard nothing through the pounding of her head and the blood rushes to her face.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

April sped the 3 of them towards the emergency room and then, with Davin's help, they half-carried, half-dragged Kris into the lobby of the emergency room and April filled out the paperwork for her insurance, and explaining what happened, while they waited for an opening in the rooms back in the back. Considering where they were, the wait wasn't so bad, April had barely finished filling out the paperwork when they called Kris's name to come into the back, and the nurses took her temperature and other essentials, and then they were led to a room to wait for a doctor to come see them. April sat on a chair with Davin in her lap and sighed, leaning back and looking up at the ceiling. She hated hospitals.... they smelled of death and blood, no matter how much they tried to cover the stench with antiseptic and air freshener. April couldn't help remembering that this was where her mother had died.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

Post  ginganinja Fri Nov 05, 2010 6:13 am

Once Kris had got in the car, everything was a blur. She couldn't hear anything and she just felt cold due to the cold sweats. Her sense of taste was gone and all she had was touch, even her sight was just black. Of course the touch would stay in place. It meant pain would still go to her brain. Figures. Though as Davin and April helped her into the hosptial. Maybe it was the way they held her or turned her, or something. But she suddenly felt a very sharp pain in her chest and all her senses came back. It was then she just passed out. Once she came to the First thing she heard were the commands of doctors and nurses. The first thing she saw were people leaning over her and tools being passed to one another. The first thing she tasted was blood thick in her mouth and the first thing she felt was the pain. That's all she felt. Pain coursing throughout her whole body. As something jabbed into her. A scapal maybe, or maybe a needle and thread Kris' back arched in pain and she screamed. Though it was gurgled by the blood and muffled by something covering her nose and mouth. Soemthing feeding her oxygen. She saw the ivs feeding her liquid and blood and it was then she blacked out again.

The next day, midday, Kris came to. She saw something on her hand to support it and so she couldn't move her broken fingers. Also something keeping her ribs in place. She then heard a doctor speaking outside the curtains to someone about what had happened and what was wrong. April maybe? But all she heard was that she had 2 broken ribs and one fractured, all fingers except broken on her right hand. Though thumb still intact. But what caught Kris's attention was the doctor saying she had had internal bleeding. And although she was fine now she would have to be careful with herself for a while. Kris, slowly stood up, feet on the ground and and she pushed herself up with her left hand and walked towards the curtain and opened it and saw the doctor and April. Though who stood next to them made Kris want to throw up. Her father. Looking ragged and obviously hung over. He bloody got himself pissed again! Kris' expression changed from curious and confused to pure hatred as she said, "what the hell are you doing here." it wasn't a question though, "get lost. I know you're just here to see if you can get any bloody money benefits because of me being hurt. Just piss off already."she then yanked the curtains shut and went and shut the curtains. Her father, April and the doctor came through, the doctor looking surprised and her father looking like he wanted to strangle her. She didn't care. He could if he bloody wanted to. Better then living in this hell hole.

Trying To Correct Her Life Empty Re: Trying To Correct Her Life

April had only left the hospital twice in the last 3 days, once was when she had taken Davin back to the Manager's house to stay the nights, while his mom stayed with Kris. She had been there to hear all the news and had barely slept at all, though she had gone home last night and had gotten a full nights rest, so now she looked a lot more like her normal self- red hair tied back in a ponytail, blue-jeans, black t-shirt and bright brown eyes. Kris's father had arrived there about an hour after April had.

After only 4 hours of his company, April didn't like him, he creeped her out like no other man had, the only man that could creep her out more was her own father, and she didn't particularly like him either. They had spent most of that morning in awkward silence, April sitting in the chair beside Kris's bed while her father kept stealing lustful glances at April. She was about ready to slap him, so when Kris suddenly came out from behind the screen, and cussed her father out, April felt a glow of appreciation towards Kris, then the doctor turned to the man. "You know the hospital cafe` serves a great breakfast, if you're interested. You said you hadn't eaten yet this morning, why don't you go have something?"

At the same moment, his stomach rumbled and, nodding, he took the hint and left the room. April smirked and then turned to Kris when he was out of earshot. "How do you feel?"

Kris watched as her father left and she relaxed. Then as April asked how she felt Kris sat up and said, "now that, that hotheaded perverted bastard is gone. Just peachy."she sighed softly and glanced away for a moment and asked, "how long was I out?"her watch which she usually kept with her was nowhere in sight. She sighed. That was one of the things her mother had given her, and now that it was nowhere in sight Kris suddenly felt cold and empty. If it wasn't for that perverted murderer, she would still be alive..

April sat down in the chair beside Kris and smiled. "Counting the night we brought you here? 4 days. But it's been three days since the operation, so..." the red-head sighed. "The doctor says you'll be in here for another week to recuperate. Seeing as the doctor had left the room with Kris's father, they were alone in the room. "I'm glad you told him off. If I had to sit there for another minute with his eyes on me, I swear I would've ripped them out and shoved them up his ass." She muttered, darkly.

Kris sighed as April told her she had been here for 4 days. Dammit. Then she told her that she'd have to be here for a week and Kris groaned and flopped back on the bed, regretting it as a stab of pain shot from her ribs. She stared at the ceiling and then looked at April momentarily before saying, "I wish you really would have done that. He's a fucking bastard. He deserves to die.."Kris trailed off, obvious she was just about to tell why he should. She stared at the ceiling again and then sat up and said, "I can't stay here for a week. I've still got to go to work. And if I don't or the owners at Pine Ranch could file a complaint about me and I could be sent to prison..again."she closed her eyes and sighed. She hated Pine Ranch. Hated prison. Hated her father. Hated everything except Striker. Practically silently,Kris said, "I don't want to go there again. I can't leave Striker.."though it was barely audible.
